I blatantly stole this idea from SI's Peter King, but here are ten things I think:
1. Nick Anderson is glad to have Courtney Lee in the "I blew it for the Orlando Magic in the Finals" club. How did Lee miss that lay-up at the end of regulation in game two? I thought in regular speed it looked tough to hit, but on replay it's clear that he should have made that play. If only that goes in, we might be looking at 2-2...
2. As good as Dwight Howard is, he has a long way to go to be great. Dwight is amazing. I've never seen a big man so freakishly athletic. He puts up impressive numbers without having a polished post game. If he can improve his post-up skills, this guy might break into the top five centers of all-time list before it's all said and done.
3. The top five centers of all-time are: 1. Wilt 2. Abdul-Jabbar 3. Russell 4. Shaq 5. Hakeem. I openly admit to being a Lakers fan, so there may be an element of bias here... There are three Lakers on that list, and yes, I put Russell at three. No, all his titles don't sway my opinion. And for all you who are jockstrapping Hakeem, Shaq was better by a clear margin.
4. Stuart Scott needs to stop doing SportsCenter highlights like he's Eminem riding a Dr. Dre beat. The worst part is that it's rubbing off on Magic Johnson. Listen to Magic throw that little something-extra-growl in on his commentary. He didn't do that until he was around Stu all the time. Pisses me off.
5. Jim Rome is the best sports radio talk show host in America. Flame away.
6. Stan Verett and Neil Everett should just shut the hell up about SportsCenter being filmed in LA. I don't give a rat's ass where you're broadcasting from as long as you don't suck. And you do suck, so your constant hype of being in Los Angeles gets old.
7. Whoever it is on ESPN who keeps dropping the "winner winner chicken dinner" after a highlight package deserves five elbow drops from the Macho Man Randy Savage.
8. Brett. Farve. Will. Never. Go. Away.
9. Blake Griffin will be like Dwight Howard - amazing because of his being an athletic freak. If he ever really develops a post game, he'll be insane.
10. Rodney Harrison will make tuning in to Monday Night Football worth while. His comments on Mark Sanchez posing in GQ got me hyped for hearing him in the booth.
