Sweet Lucifer, I Hate My Life

Several months ago, I was awkened early in the morning by my baby.  I picked her up and started down the stairs as I did every morning.  On the second to last step, instead of stepping on it like a non-retard, I stepped on it, slipped, and fell on my lower back.  Luckily, I didn't fall forward onto my baby.  Let's just say 300 pound man + 4 month old baby + fall on said baby = TOTAL DISASTER.

Well, throughout the past months I have learned that I have what experts called an "Effed up back."  AKA 3 herniated discs in my low back. This has caused what experts also call INTENSE pain in my legs for the past oh, 6 or so months.

The last few nights have been the worst.  I'm not going to go into details, but needless to say, it has made me strongly hate my life right now.  I'm not sure what I'm going to do about it, except for one thing: SUFFER.  It appears to be my lot.  Maybe the Buddhists were right.

How this relates to sports:  I guess it doesn't other than to say it is really hard to enjoy a game when even lying down makes you hurt like hell.  That being said, being layed up did allow me to watch some sporting events this weekend, albeit painfully.  Here are some thoughts:

1.  Why is everyone so in love with SEC football?  It's just like watching pro football.  And if I want to watch pro football, I'll just wait until Sunday and watch it then.  Maybe I need to watch more of it to appreciate what it is all about. For me, the few games I have watched have been boring.

2.  I suffered through the last 6 innings (4 hours) of game 2 of the ALCS with my buddy Phil.  I wish I could say that it changed my views on baseball, but it hasn't, even if Joe Buck and Tim McCarver kept trying to push down my throat that it was "one of the greatest games of all-time."

3. I actually stooped low enough to watch 5 or so minutes of the newly formed UFL.  The football itself wasn't that bad, but I don't understand how anyone can enjoy watching a game where there are only 75 fans in a 40,000 seat arena.  If you watch UFL or NBA D-league action, you have a problem, and need mental health services.
